Format Conversion Software
Many standard image processing and geographic information system (GIS)
software packages, such as Arc/Info, LAS, and ERDAS Imagine, provide
tools for converting between different data formats. For users without
ready access to such packages, a subroutine to facilitate reading and
unpacking "flat" binary files in band-sequential (BSQ) format is
available in both Fortran 77
and C-language versions.
Some of the most useful Arc/Info and LAS format conversion modules are
listed below.
Arc/Info
Arc/Info can handle the raster-data formats of many of the more widely
used geograhic information system and image processing software
packages, as well as "flat" BSQ binary files. Modules include
- DEMLATTICE
- Convert Digital Elevation Model data from standard USGS format to
Arc/Info grid format. Note: the DEM files may need
reblocking before
DEMLATTICE can process them.
- GRIDIMAGE
- Convert raster data from Arc/Info grid format to a variety of
other formats.
- IMAGEGRID
- Convert raster data in other formats into Arc/Info grid format.
LAS
- ARC2LAS
- Convert from Arc/Info grid format to LAS image format.
- DEM2LAS
- Read USGS digital elevation model files and convert to LAS format.
- ERD2LAS
- Convert ERDAS74 files to LAS format.
- LAS2ARC
- Convert LAS image data to Arc/Info grid format.
- LAS2ERD
- Convert LAS image data to ERDAS74 format.
- TRANSLAS
- Convert between LAS and BSQ image formats.
