1.4 Save Thumbnail TIFF Image

The Save Thumbnail TIFF function allows the user to save the current XID image as a subsampled (256 x 256) image in TIFF format. Any mappings currently applied to the image will be applied to the image data before the image is written to disk and any graphics data currently displayed is written into the image (i.e., engraved into the image). This function is useful for creating images for CD jewel case covers.

OK:
Accept the currently selected file name and proceed with saving the image. The number of output bands created depends on the type of image displayed. If a black and white image is displayed, all color channels are mapped the same, and no graphics data is displayed, a single band image is created, otherwise a 3-band image is created.

Filter:
Apply the currently selected directory/file filter.

Cancel:
Close the Save panel without saving an image to disk.

Verifying a File Name

When saving a Thumbnail TIFF file, the user has the option to overwrite a currently existing file. When OK is pressed on the above shown selection box, XID will check the existence of the selected file and show the Verify File Name message (shown below) if it detects the file already exists. The user must then verify that it is ok for XID to overwrite the current file with the given filename or choose to select another filename for the image.

OK:
Accept the currently selected filename and continue with the save procedure.

Cancel:
Close the Verify panel to allow the user to select another filename. This gaurantees the previously selected file will not be altered in any way.
